PT Berca Schindler Lifts is ensuring the future of the company by it first joint Apprenticeship Program with BBPLK Bekasi.
Berca Schindler launches its first Apprenticeship program jointly developed with BBPLK Bekasi (Balai Besar Pelatihan Kerja), a leading vocational training institute in Indonesia. The program incorporates various critical aspects of development for the apprentices. The program which includes work-based training, a work-tailored curriculum, credential recognition as well as clear career development opportunities after the program.
Owner of Central Cipta Murdaya Group, Murdaya Poo, PT Berca Schindler Lifts’ President Director Willis Phua, and Head of BBPLK Bekasi, Helmiati Basri signed the joint declaration of intent today at the BBPLK Bekasi, which is located in South Bekasi.
The apprenticeship program curriculum equips the apprentices with diverse, yet very relevant and specialized skills needed in the lift and & escalator industry. This includes the installation, maintenance and repairs aspect of the business. Apprentices also obtain work rotations across our Schindler operational businesses to provide them with real world work experiences.
Schindler as the industry leader, advocates raising the standards of safety and quality of the lift industry in Indonesia. Schindler had launched its largest training center in Southeast Asia in Puri Indah earlier this year with a capacity to conduct trainings for up to 300 people per a year.
The program aims to build a strong foundation for many employees who begin their careers within Schindler as technicians and grow into future technical experts.
Schindler is known for the safety and Swiss quality of the products delivered to our customers. This joint apprenticeship program with BBPLK Bekasi shall bring us a pipeline of young talents into the technical stream of the business. This will definitely help the rest of the market to follow suit and lift raise the safety and quality standards in the lift industry in Indonesia.

Schindler’s annual apprenticeship recruitment drive takes place every year starting from March to May with the program commencing in July of each year.
Suitable applicants should have completed Vocational School in mechanical or electrical engineering. Fresh graduates are preferred and should be of Indonesian nationality.
Program fees are paid by the company and apprentices shall receive a monthly stipend during the program.
