Celebrating Kartini Day Schindler Indonesia's First Female Service Leader Shares Her Journey
Fitri Rizkiyanti, a female service leader in Berca Schindler Indonesia, has made history as the first female service leader in a field that is dominated by male service leader and technicians. Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time to enjoy swimming and reading novels in her spare time.
In celebrating Kartini Day, which is a day to embrace gender equality and diversity, we recognize the importance of having women like Fitri in leadership positions.
Fitri joined Berca Schindler more than three years ago after graduating from FEDP (Field Engineer Development Program). When she first became the only female supervisor in Berca Schindler, she was surprised at the complexity of the work she had to manage. "Being a service leader, especially in Existing installation, which was managed quite complexly," Fitri said.
In an interview, Fitri shared that she had to prove herself and show that she was just as capable as her male colleagues. Fitri's main challenge has been dealing with people. She has had to adapt to the different mindset of her team and make decisions that are acceptable to everyone.
Fitri believes that Berca Schindler’s efforts in promoting inclusion and diversity are commendable, but she also thinks that there is still room for improvement. She hopes to see more female leaders in the operational team and for women to be valued equally without having to prove themselves in extraordinary ways.
Fitri's journey as a female service leader in a male-dominated field is an inspiration to all women who aspire to take on leadership roles in their careers. "I believe that being a leader is not about gender, it is about the skills and capabilities that one possesses," Fitri said.
In conclusion, Fitri's story is a testament to the importance of gender equality and diversity in the workplace. We need more women like Fitri who are willing to break the barriers and pave the way for a more inclusive and diverse working environment. As Fitri said, "It's time to break the stigma and embrace diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our lives."
